THEME: “Improving Maternal & Perinatal Outcomes Through Innovative Evidence Based Practice - A Joint Call To Action”.
Call for Abstracts
The Zimbabwe Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (ZSOG) and the Paediatric Association of Zimbabwe (PAZ) are hosting a combined conference in Troutbeck Hotel, Nyanga, Manicaland, Zimbabwe, from the 18 th to the 21st of October, 2023.

We invite abstract submissions to be considered for oral and poster presentations at the scientific meetings under the following thematic areas:

1. Quality of Care in Maternal and Perinatal Health
2. Sustainable Financing for Maternal and Perinatal Health
3. Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care
4. Implementation Experiences at National and Subnational Levels.
5. The Role of Professional Societies and the Community in improving Maternal and Perinatal Health.


We also invite submissions falling into the areas of Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health, Pediatric Gynae-Oncology, Minimal Access Surgery in Paediatric Gynaecology and other relevant subspecialties and related disciplines. To foster a collaborative approach, we encourage submissions beyond just the clinical disciplines. Primary research, systematic reviews (with or without meta-analysis), case reports, case studies, case series, best practice papers and clinical audits of topics fitting into the conference’s thematic areas will all be considered.
Follow the instructions below for preparation and submission of abstracts.
All abstracts, regardless of study type, to follow the following format:
  • Title (Concise, Descriptive, Explicit, to include the population, intervention and control if any, the outcomes, study setting and type of paper/study) 
  • Thematic area of abstract 
  •  Author(s): First name, initial(s), Surname. State the name of the corresponding author (and presenting author) if different from the corresponding author. 
  • Author affiliation(s) 
  • Corresponding author details 
  • Background/Introduction/Rationale 
  • Objectives
  • Results
  • Discussion and Conclusions
Word count should be between 350 and 500 words. Authors are allowed to present 1 table and 1 figure in the submission. Please note that these do not contribute to the word count.

References: Up to 5 key references using Vancouver type referencing.
• Font type, size and spacing: Arial or Times New Roman 11, single spacing, 3 cm margins.


Abstracts which do not contain these essential elements or do not conform to the stated guidelines will be automatically rejected Abstracts must be submitted on the portal by not later than 31 August 2023. All authors will be notified of the outcomes by not later than 15 September 2023. Prizes will be awarded for outstanding oral and poster presentations in different categories.
